Dr Josiah Adoga Ihuahi hails from Oju Local Government Area of Benue State. A husband of one wife and four children.
Josiah Ihuahi holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry from the University of Jos (1995), a Master’s Degree in Applied Analytical Chemistry from the University of Jos (2002), Web-based Module in Research Methodology from University of Pretoria, South Africa (2010), and a Doctorate Degree in Applied Analytical Chemistry from the University of Jos (2013).
Dr. Josiah is a Head of Department and Research Director at the National Institute for Freshwater Fisheries Research, New Bussa, Niger State. He was a Secretary to Research and Technical Committee from 2006 to 2022, and has written Technical and Scientific Reports for the Institute spanning over two decades.
Dr Josiah Ihuahi as a Research Scientist has been into research and field works, and participated in national and regional projects over two decades in fisheries and aquaculture development. Just to mention a few, he had worked on the following projects: Competitive Agricultural Research Grant Scheme, CARGS, – Survey of Hatcheries in Nigeria (2009-2010), West Africa Agricultural Productivity Programme (WAAPP, 2012 – 2018), Pioneered the Development of a Large Scale Stainless Steel Fish Dryer for Processed Fish to meet National and International Requirements for Export (2019-2021) and Developed Protocols for Processed Fish to meet Local and Export Standards (2017-2021) amongst others.
He is a member of the Institute of Chartered Chemists of Nigeria (ICCON), Fisheries Society of Nigeria (FISON) and Chemical Society of Nigeria (CSN).
As part of community and humanitarian services rendered, Dr Josiah carried out training in partnership with Teemartins Aquaculture on Fish Processing, Standardization and Packaging involving Women Fish Processors within Kainji Lake Basin, organized by WAAPP-Nigeria, July, 2013, organized an interactive forum between Fakun fish oil processors and products development programme of NIFFR, May, 2013, trained several students from Universities, Colleges of Agriculture, Polytechnics, etc., on products development, fish handling, processing and preservation, and quality control, since 2005.
Dr Josiah is a lover of God and humanity who has contributed immensely to the spiritual, mental, psychological and moral development of many youths.
